Leal Senado Building (now known as IAM Building)

Historic Center (World Heritage Site)

Overview:

The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau Building, originally built in 1784 as the Leal Senado (Loyal Senate), is one of the most representative Portuguese-style buildings in Macau. This elegant white building showcases a neoclassical architectural style with beautifully detailed facades and interiors that preserve many valuable historical artifacts. The building houses an exhibition hall that regularly hosts various cultural and artistic exhibitions free of charge, making it a crucial place for understanding the history and culture of Macau. In 2005, it was listed as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the rest of Macau's historic district. The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau Building is not only a historic structure but also an important cultural and artistic venue in Macau. The building itself, its interior decorations, and the range of exhibitions it hosts reflect the unique blend of Chinese and Western cultures in Macau. The exhibitions in the building cover a wide range of themes, from historical artifacts to contemporary art, providing visitors with a deep insight into Macau's culture. The area surrounding the building is beautifully landscaped, making it an ideal spot for photography and relaxation.
